Procedure

Weigh A in the main beaker. Add B to the main beaker while homogenizing for 15 minutes. Pre-mix C, add to the main beaker while homogenizing. Heat main phase, while mixing, to 80-82°C. Pulverize D until uniform. There should be no color streaks on draw down. Add D to the main batch while homogenizing. Allow to disperse completely. Add E to the main batch while homogenizing. Weigh F and heat to 82-85°C. Add G to F while mixing the oil phase with a propeller mixer. Add mixture of FG to the main beaker with homogenized mixing for 15 minutes while maintaining the temperature. Switch to sweep mixing. Add H to the main batch at 45°C. Make up the water lost and continue to cool until the batch is at 30°C.

Properties

Appearance-Smooth and uniform; Centrifuge-No phase separation at RT and 40°C; 4000 RPM, 30 minutes. Some pigments may settle; Viscosity-Between 4,000-6,000 cP at 20°C, LVT, Spindle 4, 30 RPM; pH-Between 6.0-7.5 at 20-baC. Emulsion Stability-(Results to date)-Stable for 5 freeze-thaw cycles, Stable for 3 months at 40°C & 50°C.
